According to a blog on hemming car radios gradually came into being in the period the paint splatter prevents me from seeing the dial needle or the brand name. Did you know that the first car radio was invented in 1920. The pushbuttons depress freely but do not seem to move the dial needle.
Note the on off and dial knobs are identical, art decor in style. The dial knob does not turn anything it just spins freely.
