Option u65 was the only radio available for the new sting ray until calendar year 1963 rolled around and Chevy provided an alternative, u69, a dual band am FM radio. Condition well this is definitely a 'core. Here's a rather hard item to find.

It fails to power up no dial lamp illumination and no audio output. Since the unit doesn't power up, I can't say if the signal seeking circuitry is functional, but my hunch is it isn't. This particular unit lost its factory original 'baggage stickers' labels long ago.

Essentially, you're buying a core for one of three reasons 1 send it out for a full blown restoration, 2 gut it for what usable components you can extract, or 3 send it to one of the conversion houses who'll replace the 'guts' with modern solid state updated equivalents. You're buying on a used 1963 signal seeking am radio.

You can see some visible rust spots on the external case components and the chrome plated components of the face plate have appreciable bubbling and pit.
