Pros of buying a 1965 Ford Fairlane radio with 5TPO:1. Vintage appeal: The 1965 Ford Fairlane has a classic design that many people find appealing. This radio, as a period-correct accessory, can add to the overall vintage look of the car.
2. Functionality: The 5TPO designation indicates that the radio is a factory original, meaning it was installed in the car when it was new. This means it should be compatible with the car's wiring and should work properly with minimal modifications.
3. Collectibility: As a vintage radio, it may have some collectible value. If you are a collector, this could be an investment.
4. Authenticity: Having a factory original radio can add to the authenticity of the car.
Cons of buying a 1965 Ford Fairlane radio with 5TPO:1. Limited features: Older radios like this one may not have the same features as modern radios. For example, it may not have an FM radio or a CD player.
2. Sound quality: Older radios may not have the same sound quality as modern radios. They may not be as loud or have as clear sound.
3. Compatibility with modern devices: If you want to connect your phone or other modern devices to the radio, it may be difficult or impossible with this older model.
4. Cost: Factory original radios can be expensive, especially if they are in good condition.
Conclusion: If you are a collector or a purist who values authenticity above all else, then buying a 1965 Ford Fairlane radio with 5TPO may be a good investment. However, if you prioritize modern features and sound quality, then you may want to consider a newer radio or an aftermarket upgrade. Ultimately, the decision depends on your priorities and budget.
Recommendation: If you are considering buying a 1965 Ford Fairlane radio with 5TPO, I would recommend doing some research to determine the condition of the radio and its price. You may also want to consider whether the additional cost is worth the vintage appeal and authenticity that the radio provides. If you do decide to buy, make sure to have it professionally installed to ensure that it works properly and safely in your car.
Now it plays great. Radio comes with the knobs you see in photos.
It is not 100 perfect but still very nice. It is better then most you see out there.
The power wires speaker are left on this radio and in good shape. I think the inner knobs are factory but we not 100 sure. We let it play for several hours. The outer knobs are not factory but from another Ford car around same year, I think galaxies or ltd.
