This was original equipment in a variety of Bmw model's of the early to mid 1980, including the classic E30 3 series, E24 5 series, E23 7 series and E28 5 series. For their era, these were good sounding units. The volume control probably could use a little cleaning with some contact cleaner and might have a little dust in it, because it crackled a bit sometimes when I turned the volume up or down, but this mostly went away after I did it a few times still, i'd spray it with some contact cleaner to get rid of any residual dust if I were keeping this. In order to do a faithful and correct restoration of your classic vintage Bmw, it's important to have a period correct, oem stereo unit like this one to replace a non functioning original unit or, more often, to replace an aftermarket stereo that was installed sometime over the years.
Up for offer is a very nice, tested, working oem vintage Bmw am FM cassette car stereo unit.
These original Bmw radios have a great look and good sound for the era, and they're great to use as a restoration piece. I did find an old blank cassette, though, and popped it in to see if it accepts and ejects tapes properly, and it seems to do that OK. This is an Alpine unit, model number CM5804. This model does not require a code, so it should be plug and play for your vintage Bmw.
The tuner works correctly and receives a strong radio signal all the controls work properly couldn't test whether the cassette player works because I haven't had a cassette player for years, and thus I couldn't find any old cassettes with music on them to test it with. All of the original wiring is included, so again, it should be an easy plug and play replacement.
