Review MOTOROLA Chevrolet Radio Vintage Very Nice Delco fits IMPALA CAPRICE 1968

The CT68A.1 1968 Chevrolet Impala Caprice Radio is a vintage automotive audio system that hails from the esteemed Delco-Motorola division. This radio was a premium offering for Chevrolet's full-size Impala and Caprice models during the 1968 model year, and it continues to be a sought-after component for classic car enthusiasts and restorers.

The CT68A.1 is a monaural AM/FM radio, meaning it can receive both AM and FM radio stations. It features a simple yet elegant design, with a black faceplate and chrome accents that complement the overall aesthetic of the 1968 Impala and Caprice. The radio's dial is located in the center, with separate knobs for tuning AM and FM stations, as well as volume and station preset controls.

The CT68A.1 is a factory-installed radio, meaning it was designed to fit seamlessly into the dashboard of the 1968 Impala or Caprice. It measures approximately 7 inches wide by 4 inches tall, and it features a single speaker located in the center of the faceplate. This speaker produces clear and crisp audio, making it ideal for listening to music, news, and talk radio.

The CT68A.1 is not just a radio, but a piece of automotive history. It represents the golden age of automotive audio, when AM/FM radios were a luxury feature in cars. This radio is also a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of Delco-Motorola, a company that was at the forefront of automotive electronics during the mid-20th century.

In summary, the CT68A.1 1968 Chevrolet Impala Caprice Radio is a vintage AM/FM audio system that offers clear and crisp audio, a simple and elegant design, and a piece of automotive history. It is a must-have for classic car enthusiasts and restorers who want to preserve the originality and authenticity of their 1968 Impala or Caprice.

Pros of buying a 1968 Chevrolet Impala Caprice with a Motorola Delco radio:

1. Classic Appeal: The 1968 Impala Caprice is a popular and iconic classic car model, known for its sleek design and powerful performance.

2. Unique Features: The Motorola Delco radio is a desirable feature, as it was a high-end option for the time and is now a collectible item.

3. Potential for Customization: The car's classic design and the availability of aftermarket parts make it easy to customize and personalize to fit your preferences.

4. Relative Affordability: Compared to some other classic car models, the Impala Caprice can be a relatively affordable option, especially if you are able to find one in good condition.

Cons of buying a 1968 Chevrolet Impala Caprice with a Motorola Delco radio:

1. Maintenance and Repair Costs: Classic cars can be expensive to maintain and repair, due to the availability of parts and the specialized knowledge required to work on them.

2. Fuel Efficiency: Classic cars, especially those with larger engines like the Impala Caprice, are not known for their fuel efficiency.

3. Safety Concerns: Older cars may not have the same safety features as modern vehicles, such as airbags and anti-lock brakes.

4. Depreciation: Classic cars can depreciate in value over time, especially if they are not well-maintained or if the market for that particular model is not strong.

Conclusion:

If you are a classic car enthusiast with a love for the 1968 Impala Caprice and the Motorola Delco radio, and you are willing to invest the time and money required to maintain and customize the car, then it could be a great option for you. However, it's important to consider the potential maintenance and repair costs, fuel efficiency, and safety concerns before making a purchase.

Recommendation:

Before making a decision, I would recommend researching the specific model and year of the car, as well as its market value, to ensure that it is a good investment for you. It's also a good idea to have the car inspected by a professional to ensure that it is in good condition and safe to drive. Finally, consider shopping around for the best deal and negotiating the price to get the best value for your money.

Details:

From all appearances my Impala was a radio delete car and this unit installed sometime in its history. Push buttons and indicator work as they should. Only with free shipping.

Shaft diameter is the chrome face and dial look very good. Dial face is wide and tall. Shaft spacing is radio was working great when I removed it this past summer. This is a very nice vintage Motorola am radio.

I removed this from my 34k mile 1968 Impala. Selling to contiguous us. Overall dimensions are wide, deep, and tall. The knobs are nice but have some light scratches marks.

I chose to replace the radio with an original delco.
