The FM works fine, and signal-seeker automatic tuning function as it should. It showed no tendency to eat tapes. The volume control does not work properly and will need to be repaired or replaced.
Here is a Becker mexico cassette radio model U160,s n as used in numerous cars including Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, and the like. The am does not work reliably band switch problem, apparently. Overall, it looks nice with minimal corrosion. I tested this radio, and there are several problems, so it is being sold as-is for parts or repair, with no warranty.
This radio was installed in a 1930s cabinet for home use at some time the past laugh, see last picture. The is fine, both channels. There is residue from that tape on the outside. The chrome bezel does have some pitting, particularly on upper surface, but no bends or breaks.
I played it for about an hour, and didn't notice any other major issues. The amplifier sub unit is included. The tape head shows little wear, and other rubber parts seem to be OK.
On one channel, it cuts out at some settings, and wiggling the knob will bring back intermittently. I do have the mounting bracket, which is often missing. Whoever had it didn't have the speaker connectors, so he just stuck bare wires into sockets and wrapped duct tape around to keep them in place.
The knobs are correct and in good shape.
